In March of 2020, the global pandemic shut down the world. Businesses closed their doors, events were cancelled, and people stayed home. Many people stressed over the grim circumstances they faced but Megan Ingraham saw the opportunity to grow her brand and her business. “I started Events by Eva in December of 2019. The timing helped, to be honest, because couples everywhere were rescheduling their weddings. A lot of people lost vendors and were looking for a new planner who wasn’t fully booked. This helped me to gain experience in the field and build my portfolio.”
Events by Eva offers day of wedding coordination, partial planning, and full wedding planning services. Megan coordinates as many as 42 events per year. She is currently changing her process to be more curated and hand selected for her clients and herself. “I love the design part of putting weddings together. I’m hoping to focus more on the design aspect so it’s the right fit for the couple and myself.”
Megan often works weekdays to prepare for the events and weekends for the weddings themselves. When asked how she handles the balance of work life and her personal life, she said, “I’m terrible at it! It’s a work in progress that I am constantly learning. This year my goal was to try to be better about when I reply to clients and vendors to also be respectful of their time. I’m still figuring out the rest, especially how to take days off!”
Megan’s solid advice for female business owners or women wanting to get started as a wedding planner: “Don’t waste your time stressing out about if a client is going to decide to move forward with you or when you are going to hear back from a client. Focus that energy and that time into how you can build your business.”
